Blood Donation

A total of 2,777 people have donated blood throughout 2023 in Lanzarote. This is revealed by data from the Canary Islands Institute of Hemodonation and Hemotherapy of the Government of the Canary Islands.

Only in two out of ten cases have these extractions been carried out in hospitals, while the rest have been carried out in other ICHH donation points.

Thus, the months of May (292), June (295) and August (289) have been the ones with the most donors attending the extraction centers. While the months of January (184), September (180), October (188) and December (176) are the ones with the least.

In the case of the month of July, donations grew to 262, a total of 176 more than in the previous year. Specifically, on June 29, a call was made by the family of a young man from Lanzarote with a diagnosis of leukemia to go to the centers attached to donate blood.

Meanwhile, in the months of January, February, September and October, decreases were recorded compared to the previous year.
