Meet the healthcare professionals awarded with research prizes in Lanzarote

A total of 10 healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses and midwives, and residents of Primary Care and the Doctor José Molina Orosa University Hospital have received diplomas and awards in this first call

The Management of Health Services of the Lanzarote Health Area, attached to the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, has recently presented the awards corresponding to the 1st edition of the research awards convened by the Clinical Commission for Research, Teaching and Continuing Education for the development and dissemination of scientific projects and studies among health professionals and residents on the island.

A total of 10 healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses and midwives, and residents of Primary Care and the Doctor José Molina Orosa University Hospital have received diplomas and awards in this first call for their different works in the modalities of best research projects and best scientific communications for congresses.

The award ceremony was presided over by the medical director of the Molina Orosa Hospital, Luis Carlos Moreno, and the director of Quality of the Management, María Hernández, together with the heads of the Clinical Research Commission.

These awards respond to the commitment of the Management of Health Services of Lanzarote to the promotion of research and the promotion of development in terms of innovation. It is about promoting multidisciplinary research among professionals and residents in order to optimize our health system and contribute to improving the health of the population through clinical efficiency.

The distribution of these awards has been resolved by the Clinical Commission for Research, Teaching and Continuing Education among the 107 projects and communications that were registered throughout 2024.

 

Publication of projects in scientific journals

In the modality of aid for the publication of projects in scientific journals, the winners as principal investigators have been the nurse José Miguel García for a study on the Cincinnati Scale applied in the triage of Emergencies; the doctor Martín Amengual with a project on the applicability of a multicomponent exercise program; the nurse Ariana García for the evaluation of the healthy eating program aimed at families in the Argana neighborhood; the pediatrician Montserrat Llorca for her study on neonatal morbidity and mortality, and the midwife Estefanía Mota with a study of gestational diabetes.

 

Dissemination in congresses and scientific meetings

On the other hand, regarding the modality of aid for dissemination in congresses and scientific meetings, the nurse Leticia Hernández has received an award as the main researcher for the Post-Fall Nursing Care Plan; the midwife Coral Castro for the iLHANZ Breastfeeding Project; the Family and Community Nursing residents June Gastañaga and María del Mar Fernández for their projects Nursing care reports after discharge and Physical exercise and quality of life in women in menopause, and the nursing supervisor, Elsa Viñoly, for her work around the preoperative framework of the stoma site in the operating room.
