Masdache celebrated its pilgrimage to La Magdalena, among volcanoes and vineyards

The town of Masdache celebrated its popular pilgrimage in honor of Mary Magdalene this Saturday afternoon. Numerous pilgrims, arriving from different parts of the municipality of Tías, and accompanied by carts, wagons and parrandas, made the journey along the roads surrounded by vineyards and volcanic flows that arose after the famous volcanic eruptions of the 18th century, in the current area of Timanfaya. One of the famous volcanoes of those eruptions, the Volcán del Cuervo, gives 'shadow' to the horizon of Masdache. The pilgrims concluded their walk next to the small hermitage of La Magdalena, on the La Geria road, almost at the foot of the Caldera de El Cuervo and the Tinguatón Volcano.

The pilgrimage was attended by the mayor of Tías, the popular Pancho Hernández, the Councilor for Festivities, Francisco Javier Aparicio, as well as the councilors of the Government group. The offering to La Magdalena was accompanied by a performance by the Timbayba Folk Group and at the entrance of the church several poems dedicated to La Magdalena were read by one of the devotees and regular participant in the pilgrimages of Tías. Saturday night concluded with a party atmosphere under the tent installed next to the Cultural Center. Pa`l Porrón, Los Gurfines Son del Puerto and the Los Jarvac orchestra put the party accent on the night of Masdache, where 'King Aeolus' made an appearance during the pilgrimage and the night.

Masdache continues this Sunday, the 22nd, the day of La Magdalena, celebrating its patron saint festivities with a family theater at 12 noon, by the KueroKabra company, with the staging of the play 'Los Chinijos'. The procession in honor of Mary Magdalene will be at 6:00 p.m. where the Tías Acuarti Municipal Band will be and the performance of the Güerma group, starting at 6:00 p.m. Sunday will conclude with a night of humor by the humorist Yeray Díaz, in the tent starting at 8:00 p.m.
