A dinghy with 58 immigrants of Maghrebi origin on board was rescued this Saturday south of the coast of Lanzarote, reports Maritime Rescue.
At around 2:30 p.m. island time, the Maritime Rescue center in Las Palmas received a notice from 112 about a telephone call from a boat about 15 miles south of Arrecife.
Shortly after, the SIVE of the Civil Guard confirmed the position and said it was stopped.
The Salvamar Al Nair came to their aid and rescued the 55 people on board, all Maghrebi men, and took them to Puerto Naos where they were assisted by the Red Cross.
All the occupants of the boat were in good health, so no transfer to a health center has been necessary.
