The Santa Lucía festivities in Mozaga celebrated the most multitudinous and fun events of the program this weekend. On the one hand, the donkey race and, on the other, the birth of a parranda.
Lorenzo, guided by Diego Martín, was the donkey with the most agile legs. He was followed by Elías, ridden by Samuel, and in third place, Perico, with his owner Esteban. The equines had to overtake 19 congeners who participated in the test. The winners took different gifts and the four-legged winners, each three sacks of millet.
The festivities also included the birth of the La Pichona parranda, which did so before half a thousand people. The presentation took place at the Socio-Cultural Center. "The chosen name comes from one of the neighborhoods of Mozaga: La Pichona, which is in the center, and that is why this name was chosen," explains one of its members, Ramón Corujo, and president of the festival committee. The parranda is made up of 17 members and on the day of the presentation it was supported by the Mozaga and Nazaret Folklore School, the La Peña rondalla, and Salineros de la Hoya.
The festivities will continue until the 19th. This Monday, the 13th, the religious service and procession will take place, accompanied by the San Bartolomé Municipal Band, at 5:00 p.m. Later, at 7:30 p.m., there will be a Play Back performance.
Next Saturday, December 18, there will be a snack for the residents of the town, in which recognition will be given to the oldest person in the town.
Finally, the festivities will come to an end on Sunday the 19th. That day, at 1:00 p.m., there will be a popular Canarian sancocho. At 4:00 p.m., the Digestive Dance will take place with the Atlantis Swing duo, to conclude the events at 8:30 p.m.
