The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, together with the Minister of Social Welfare and Inclusion, Marci Acuña, received this Tuesday at the Presidency headquarters the Lanzarote physiotherapist and writer Lorena Curbelo Robayna, who, thanks to her project Educating for health through the magic of stories, has been awarded the International Award for Excellence in Health, a global recognition that she received last weekend in Madrid during the eighth edition of the SaludFestival – International Food and Health Advertising Festival, held at the Alcázar Theater.
Oswaldo Betancort congratulated the award winner for this important international achievement, emphasizing that "Lanzarote and La Graciosa have people who export values, knowledge, and innovation. Lorena represents the best of our society: the vocation of service, the love for education, and the ability to inspire young people through health and culture."
For her part, Marci Acuña remarked during the reception that "Lorena is an example of how talent and sensitivity can transform realities. From the Cabildo we will continue to support projects that, like hers, educate, prevent, and promote a healthier and more empathetic society."
Curbelo, promoter of the original project Educating for Health Through the Magic of Stories, accepted this award accompanied by part of her team and the people who have supported her professional and educational career. "It's my life's project," she said this Tuesday during the reception at the Cabildo, moved by the institutional and social support she has received.
An award with more than twenty years of international experience
Councilor Marci Acuña was also present at the event held last weekend. From the Area he directs, Acuña has decisively promoted two projects protected by the talent of Lorena Curbelo: one focused on the prevention of bullying and the other linked to mental health, both framed within the lines of work of the Island Strategy for Accessibility and Inclusion of the Cabildo -a national benchmark for its comprehensive approach- and also within the National Health Promotion and Prevention Strategy (EPSP), as well as the Canary Islands Strategy for Cities, Municipalities and Islands Promoting Health, to which the Institution adhered this year.
During the gala, presented by the journalist Patricia Betancort, Lorena Curbelo was distinguished with two important international awards: 1st Category: Best Project for Education in Healthy Habits and Lifestyles; and 2nd Category: Best Creativity in Health Entrepreneurship Project.
These awards, granted after passing the rigorous selection process of the jury presided over by the prestigious professional Marcos de Quinto, place Curbelo and its project among the international reference entities in the field of education and health. In addition, each recognition grants 20 points for the International Ranking of the Best Entities and Brands in the Health and Food Sector, reinforcing its projection and professional prestige.
The SaludFestival, organized by Gala Acción Social, has more than twenty years of international experience in the promotion of advertising festivals with values, such as Publifestival, Smile Festival, or Luxury Awards, allocating more than 200,000 euros each year in training scholarships for master's degrees specializing in Corporate Social Responsibility.
During the ceremony, Lorena Curbelo symbolically presented one of the statuettes to Councilor Marci Acuña, in gratitude for the institutional support received. "Many of the projects that are now internationally recognized are part of the health promotion axis promoted by the Cabildo, with education and creativity as tools for social transformation," Curbelo told the festival audience.
