Lanzarote reduces the average waiting time for an operation more than the Canary Islands. The average waiting time for surgery at the José Molina Orosa Hospital is just over two months, except in Traumatology and Orthopedic Surgery, where the delay exceeds three months.

The waiting time to undergo surgery at the José Molina Orosa Hospital has decreased by 37 days in June compared to the same period in 2023, according to data from the Lanzarote Data Center. In the Canary Islands as a whole, the waiting time has decreased by 24 days in the last year.

Adding up all the specialties, in June of last year the number of days of delay was 100, while in the same month of this year it is 63 days.

By specialties, the one with the most waiting days is Traumatology and Orthopedic Surgery with a total of 106 days compared to 149 last year. This is followed by Otorhinolaryngology with 57 days of delay and General and Digestive Surgery with 50.

Next is Gynecology, in which the waiting time is extended to 49 days, and Urology, which has an average of 40 days. Regarding the delay in Angiology and Vascular Surgery, the figure reaches 28 days.

In contrast, the waiting list for Dermatology patients is zero, as there are no waiting days.

On the other hand, the only specialty in which patients wait more than six months to undergo surgery is Traumatology and Orthopedic Surgery, in which there are 55 people waiting to be operated on.

As for the sum of the other specialties in which patients wait less than six months, the number of people reaches 1,184, compared to the 1,325 users there were in June 2023.
