Lanzarote Media on an underwater mission

Early afternoon. Everyone, from their respective positions, had synchronized their watches. A special mission awaited Lanzarote Media. Danger, investigation and lots of water. Equipped with nerves of steel, the men and women of the team entered the other world... the world of silence, calm and... Colorful fish!! And it is that the soul of Jacques Cousteau possessed these 20 brave people who decided to embark on the most ambitious adventure of their lives to discover the secrets of the dark and dangerous Atlantic Ocean. Well, actually, to discover the "little fish" that swim happily next to Puerto Calero and sing an underground (or should I say undersea?) version of one of The Beatles' best-known songs.

Yes, folks, Lanzarote Media put aside current affairs, music, reports and discussions, moved away from dry land to indulge in marine effluvia and, let's not kid ourselves, have a laugh. Some determined, others more afraid than happy, went down to the particular Lanzarote Nautilus, the submarine "Sub Fun 3", the crew of Radio Lanzarote, Cadena 100, Lanzarote Televisión and La Voz de Lanzarote.

The captain on board, the hatches almost closed and the expedition about to begin, when there was a casualty among the explorers and it was not because of the fearsome monster with countless arms like "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea". A certain radio scribe who is able to outmaneuver politicians and pundits like no one else while saying good morning to Lanzarote, decided that observing life on the seabed was not for him. A "guys, I'm out", ended the situation seconds before he went up the hatch to follow the expedition from the mother ship. Despite the loss of the companion, the group remained united in the mission entrusted: to have fun.

The "Sun Fun 3", the only submarine in Lanzarote that offers visits to the seabed, began the journey, which was not twenty thousand leagues either, but it is just as impressive. The seasoned explorers of Lanzarote Media enjoyed barracudas (through a glass, of course?), old ones always a little lazy near the bottom, sargos, sea urchins, many sea urchins and other species, among which were the cousins of Nemo, the little Disney fish.

The imagination began to fly in search of treasures of coins and pearls 30 meters deep when the submarine almost touched an old wooden ship sunk in which there were treasures but of flesh and bone: banks of hundreds of fish that swam quietly around the submarine. Laughter, "look!", "there are more fish!" were the expressions that, together with the indications of the submarine guide, made the entire Lanzarote Media team spend almost an hour under the water.

Suddenly a fish a little bigger than usual emerged from the darkness. Disconcerted, the explorers wondered (because they are journalists, man) what strange being was approaching carrying an unidentified object in which, just a few meters from the submarine, they could read a Christmas greeting, accompanied by a message of affection from the expeditionary that the group had lost. But the dangers were not over for the Lanzarote Media team.

An improvised Captain Nemo took the reins of the passage intimidating the pilots, the fish and even the sea urchins. Microphone in hand and with heels, the captain, somewhat blonder than in the novel by Jules Verne, took the floor... and sang out of tune. The mythical "Yellow submarine" resonated throughout the ship and what is worse, a large part of the Lanzarote Media team launched, as aspirants to the Titerroy song festival, to sing lyrics and music in a "new", to call it somehow, version of the theme of The Beatles.

Given the situation, the pilot hurried to the surface, lest the submarine's windows burst, and everyone, happy and smiling, set foot on dry land to "have a drink afterwards." The submarine of the company "Submarine Safari" captained by Ángel Sarabia returned to its place to continue giving rides to visitors. The mission had ended successfully.

The party continues

The most partying expedition reunited hours after the underwater adventure, this time in Playa Honda and for a less risky mission from which no one "backed out". To make the palate enjoy the rich delicacies of the restaurant "El figón de los dos". An opportunity for colleagues from one and another media, who usually do not see each other's faces, although they do hear their voices and read their articles and reports, to spend some time together, because it is Christmas.

Nothing was missing: food, drink, drink and... laughter. From the jokes of the most well-known "distillery" on the radio to the show that is the popular Mangüe himself, an expert in "the two, three and four wheels", as he always says on his program, passing through the monologist and yet cameraman José Aldeguer.

The rest was done by the chat, the good food and the wine. An explosive mix that loosened the tongues of the almost 30 diners, who one by one, were claiming their minute of glory in an "increchendo" that ended with hugs between directors, fraternization between cameramen and administrative staff and almost almost, ends with the obligatory "Asturias patria querida" on these occasions.

There was some song, although they were not regional songs. What was not missing were the Three Wise Men who arrived in advance with tickets for the Chayanne concert (only for the concert, we are sorry lucky director), MP3 players, hotel nights and a long-awaited trip to La Palma that the LTV director, Teo Camacho, will enjoy.

The party continued in the Arrecife night, although of that, fortunately, there is no graphic document. And so, Lanzarote Media began Christmas, in a somewhat pagan way, but in which there was no lack of love for one's neighbor and for fun, which is what it is all about.
