The Security and Emergency Consortium of Lanzarote celebrated this Monday, at the Central Fire Station of Argana, a commemorative act on the occasion of the festivity of San Juan de Dios, patron saint of the fire department, in which a broad representation of the island and municipal authorities and of the State Security Forces and Corps was present.
The act, which began with the religious ceremony officiated by the parish priest of San Ginés, Miguel Hernández, served as a tribute to all the firefighters and professionals who work in the Security and Emergency Consortium of Lanzarote and who perform "an impeccable daily work".
The president of the Cabildo, María Dolores Corujo conveyed an affectionate congratulations to the firefighters through a video, since due to agenda issues she was not on the island. "I want to convey to you, on behalf of all the citizens of Lanzarote, the affection, respect and admiration we have for you, who leave your skin in each service with great professionalism, sacrifice, solidarity and dedication," Corujo said in it.
For his part, the councilor and president of the Consortium, Francisco Javier Aparicio, stressed during his speech that "it would be necessary to recognize the work that firefighters do 365 days a year." "It is an honor for me to preside over this Consortium formed by a great team of men and women who work every day for all the people of Lanzarote and Graciosa," he added.
The vice president of the Cabildo, Jacobo Medina, also had words of recognition for the professionals who make up the Lanzarote fire department and praised "the commendable work they carry out in the most difficult situations, with great effort, dedication and courage." "Our firefighters are a national benchmark, not in vain, they have won, up to four consecutive times, the Spanish Championship of Rescue in Traffic Accidents."
Distinctions
During the act, recognition plaques were presented to the firefighters of the 3rd Promotion for completing 10 years of service, specifically to Chedey Rodríguez, Esteban Perdomo, Claudio Cabrera, Daniel Aberasturi, Néstor Crespo, Aarón Rodríguez, Dennis Reguilón, Oliverio Torres, Santiago Montesdeoca, Alfonso Morillo, Tirno Medina, Juan Ramos and Rubén Guerra.
In addition, as recognition in the act of service, the on-call team that intervened on August 14 of last year in the fire with injuries registered in a house on Blas Cabrera Topham street in Arrecife was decorated, formed by Jorge Santana, Torbjorn Stoen, Oliverio Torres, Claudio Cabrera and Jesús Barrios as communications manager. In this regard, the Cabildo highlights that the team not only effectively carried out its work of controlling and extinguishing the fire, but also collaborated in the care of the injured, two of them with serious burns. Likewise, Cabo Luis Perdomo Morales was also distinguished.
In the act, the head of the Lanzarote Fire Department, Domingo Crespo, also collected a plaque that was presented by several members of the murga Los Intoxicados as a sign of gratitude to all the firefighters and also an emotional video was projected to distinguish the important work of these professionals.
The final touch to the act was the performance of the musical duo of the Conservatory of Music, formed by the singer Claire Lavirotte and the percussionist Joel Carmona.
