The heat wave that is affecting the Canary Islands and that has the eastern province on orange alert and the western province on yellow alert is being felt intensely in Lanzarote with temperatures exceeding 35 degrees throughout the island's orography.
Specifically, Tías recorded a temperature of 36.9 degrees at 12:00 p.m. this Wednesday, while at 10:00 a.m. it already reached 33.9.
Last night also recorded high temperatures in Tías. At 05:00 this morning, 27.1 degrees were reached, according to data from the State Meteorological Agency. This morning is also expected to be especially warm, with temperatures that will hardly drop below 25 degrees.
As you will recall, the island has been on alert for high temperatures since 08:00 this Wednesday, as have Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura. As of 09:00 this Thursday, the heat warning will turn yellow with temperatures that may reach 35 degrees in Lanzarote and the rest of the islands except for the east, south and west of Gran Canaria where it will remain orange.
In addition, Aemet has extended the yellow warning for strong winds that will begin at 18:00 this Thursday and end at 09:00 on Friday, with gusts that may reach 70 kilometers per hour and up to 90 in La Gomera and Gran Canaria.
Likewise, given this situation, the General Directorate of Emergencies has declared an alert for strong winds in these last two islands and a pre-alert in Lanzarote and El Hierro.
