The mercury in the thermometers rose this Wednesday to a historic high in Lanzarote. The heat wave left a maximum of 42 degrees Celsius on the island, well above the record recorded so far on May 13, which was 36 degrees in 1986. The forecast from the State Meteorological Agency indicates that temperatures will begin to drop this Thursday and the yellow warning for high temperatures will disappear on Saturday, which will however remain on Thursday and Friday.
According to that forecast, the maximum temperature for this Thursday will be 35 degrees and 34 this Friday, mainly in inland areas of the island. Temperatures are thus beginning to drop, although the haze will remain throughout Thursday. The suspended dust will finally disappear on Friday, but what will remain both days will be the wind. Aemet predicts gusts of between 25 and 50 kilometers per hour for this Thursday and already on Friday they will be between 40 and 60 kilometers per hour, possibly reaching a speed of 70 kilometers per hour at times.
