La Parranda Marinera Los Buches loses Lorenzo Morales

Last Friday, the family of the Parranda Marinera de Buches lost another of its members, Lorenzo Morales González, who died in Tías at the age of 71.

The funeral took place on Saturday morning from the Tías funeral home to the church of San Antonio, where the word of God was celebrated, and later his mortal remains were transferred to the municipal cemetery of the town.

On Sunday, the funeral mass was held in the church of Ntra. Sra. del Carmen in Puerto del Carmen, which was attended by his widow and his son Radame, who is part of the dance troupe of the parranda, and his two daughters. Family and friends also attended, including the members of the Parranda.

As a tribute to the deceased companion, the members of the parranda, with their voices breaking, performed two songs, La Batea del Gofio and Adiós mi Barco Velero. Once finished, the applause of the public that packed the church sounded. José Julián Villanueva, a member of the parranda, read a review where part of the more than thirty years that Lorenzo had belonged to the Buchera family was collected. In this memory, the companion Suso Romero, who died a few weeks ago, was also very present. José Julián expressed that "when these two friends meet, one will continue playing the limpets, a mission that corresponds to Suso, and the batea to the recently deceased Lorenzo Morales." Without a doubt, an irreparable loss for the Marinera de Buches family.
