The assembly hall of the Lanzarote Teachers' Center became a debate room this Wednesday morning. The first Island School Debate Meeting was held there, organized by the Lanzarote Educational Inspectorate with the collaboration of the CEP itself, and from which the students of IES Costa Teguise emerged victorious.
This inter-center debate "is born with the intention of promoting dialogue and the confrontation of ideas in public among students, as an exercise in coexistence and development of personal skills, information retrieval, analysis, oral expression, aptitude, listening, teamwork and speed of response", explain from the organization.
The IES César Manrique, the IES Las Salinas, the IES Costa Teguise and the IES Tinajo participated in this meeting and members of the teaching staff, the directors of several centers and also the attendance of the public was admitted. After debating on topics such as the "advantages and disadvantages of new technologies", for or against the "mobile phone in the classroom" or "Generation neither-nor or the most prepared in history?", it was finally the students from Costa Teguise who were victorious.
The winning team was made up of Ignacio González Soria, Eduardo Martín González Godoy, David Bardenas Plaza, Fátima Álvarez Urueña and Alba Ocaña Acosta, who were prepared by the teacher Estefanía Maeste Ruíz.
