Health lifts bathing restrictions at La Pescadería dock

This enclave is used in isolation for some dips in times of high temperature

The Health Area of Lanzarote has notified this Friday to the City Council of Arrecife that the waters surrounding the La Pescadería dock, on the coast of the capital of Lanzarote, are suitable for bathing. Health has lifted the preventive measures deployed this Thursday.

The Councilor for Beaches and Environment, Davinia Déniz, in close contact with the Public Health technicians in Lanzarote, had received the advance that the analyzes carried out showed a high level of quality for the waters of this area, and that the preventive prohibition made yesterday should be lifted. This enclave is used in isolation by some bathers in times of high temperatures to take a dip. Again, this area is suitable for bathing from this Friday 9. The closure was only maintained for a space of 22 hours.

The Department of Environment and Beaches of the City Council of Arrecife has received this midday the communication from the Canarian Health Service, through the Directorate of the Health Area of Lanzarote, where it is reported that, within the monitoring controls in the waters of the coast, the new analyzes carried out in these waters allow their use by bathers.

This small dock, linked to the fishing origin of Arrecife, has not had fishing activity for several decades.

The Councilor for Environment and Beaches, Davinia Déniz, after receiving the favorable results from Health, has decreed the withdrawal of the beaconing installed yesterday by the Local Police, and the sign prohibiting bathing has already been removed. The area is open for the enjoyment of dock users.

From the Consistory they remember that the municipality of Arrecife is characterized by having one of the most beautiful marinas in the Canary Islands where the quality of its waters is very good for bathing. The main urban beach of the capital of Lanzarote, El Reducto, has the Blue Flag award.
