The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands has confirmed this Friday the second case of monkeypox in Lanzarote and has ruled out three others under study.
In addition to the one on the island, the Ministry of Health has notified four other confirmed cases and three under study for monkeypox throughout the archipelago since Tuesday. Therefore, since the beginning of the declaration of the health alert there have been 163 confirmed cases, of which 93 were detected in Gran Canaria, 63 in Tenerife, four in Fuerteventura, two in Lanzarote and one in La Palma.
All active cases are having mild symptoms and remain in home isolation receiving follow-up by Primary Care, except one case that has required admission for mild complications that require hospital treatment.
On the other hand, the Ministry has reported that there are currently two probable cases, pending confirmation, notified in Gran Canaria and one suspected case, pending confirmation, notified in Tenerife.
