The bonfires illuminated the island during the night of San Juan, and especially the town of Haría, where the traditional spectacle of the 'Burning of Facundo' took place, accompanied by fireworks and a colorful staging based on torches and bonfires that joined the large main bonfire while the famous 'fire dance' was performed.
The sound of the timpani and the light of the fire were the center of attention of an entire municipality, which celebrated its patron saint's day with a significant influx of visitors. "We were surprised by the number of people who came to Haría, especially since it was a working day," said the Councilor for Festivities, Carmen Gloria Figuera, who also highlighted the XIII Edition of the Haría Awards, an event in which the neighbors Francisco Figueroa Hernández (for his merits in the promotion of sports and culture) as well as Virgilio Paz Noda were awarded, for their social services as they are a great connoisseur of the Risco area and have always come to rescue those who were lost or the lifeless remains of those who perished.
The party, which officially started with the proclamation by Manuel Perdomo Hernández, was also enlivened with a performance by Domingo Rodríguez 'El Colorao' and Fabiola Socas, who provided the musical and festive atmosphere to the night of San Juan, which was followed by all the residents of the municipality and surroundings.
After the awards ceremony and the bonfire show, the fireworks arrived, which illuminated the sky of Haría and gave way to the subsequent Gran Verbena Popular, enlivened by the Suso y Familia Orchestra and the Los Conejeros Group in the town square. A whole night of fire and celebration.
