Halcón Viajes and the Consumer Office, overwhelmed by complaints after the cancellation of a free flight promotion

The Halcón Viajes offices in Arrecife and the Consumer office of the Cabildo have been overwhelmed on the morning of this Wednesday. Dozens of people have come to the agency to exchange the coupons with which the newspaper Canarias 7 gave away round trip flights to the peninsula. Their surprise came when the travel agency told them that there were no flights left.

The promotion that the newspaper had been carrying out since February 26, and which should have ended on March 10, did not require presenting a coupon for each of the 12 days, so many people chose to buy several newspapers on the same day, in order to secure their ticket. This has meant that this newspaper has multiplied its circulation and sales in recent days, and has also had to put an end to this campaign earlier than expected, leaving many people with their coupons in hand.

"According to a statement from Viajes Halcón, the availability of air seats has run out", the newspaper published this Wednesday on its front page, despite the fact that Air Europa, which is the company with which these flights were offered, still has seats available for the coming months.

Therefore, those affected have gone to the agency's offices "very outraged", where they have demanded the exchange of their coupons. The head of the entity flatly refused to issue the tickets, alleging that "there are no places left for the rate agreed with Canarias 7", so he could not book any more tickets.

"There is no right for us to be treated like this, they have been making us dizzy all morning passing the buck to each other", said Carmen Pardo, one of those affected. Thus, those affected have made the corresponding claims in Canarias 7, and in the travel agency Halcón Viajes waiting to receive at least the money for the newspapers purchased. In addition, they have made the appropriate claims at the consumer service office of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, which has also been overwhelmed during the morning receiving complaints.
