The sensitivity of the German artist, Gretl Brand, towards the poverty and hunger of the neighboring continent, has turned her work into a means to "combat it." A medium that, as an artistic expression, has served her to reflect the phenomenon of immigration from her perspective during her stay in Lanzarote, an island she discovered through her trip to create a tourist documentary for German television. And also as a means because the proceeds from the sale of these works will be allocated to the humanitarian project "A school under a tree", through which schools will be built in Senegal.
The exhibition, which will be open until February 25 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., includes the latest creations of this artist based in Lanzarote for several years and who has developed her professional and artistic life between Germany, the United States and Spain.
Gretl Brand combines television creation with artistic painting. In the 70s she created several collages of experimental sounds for German radio as well as short and feature films for television. Since 1978 she has her own audiovisual production company.
