The César Manrique Foundation (FCM) inaugurated this Thursday, at its headquarters in Taro de Tahíche, the exhibition 'César Manrique. The workshop of dreams', which will remain open until January 13, 2013.

The president of the FCM, José Juan Ramírez, recalled that this is the first of three exhibitions that will be dedicated to the artist when the twentieth anniversary of the Foundation is celebrated. The other two will be dedicated to the artist in his role as a social activist and in his work as a defender of the territory.

The director of the FCM, Fernando Gómez Aguilera, described the exhibition as "unique" and said that it vindicates César as a painter, "which is how he himself vindicated himself." Gómez Aguilera said that the workshop is the space of maximum freedom for the artist, where César Manrique felt "the happiest person in the world." "His workshop is the space in which César Manrique was building the hymn to Lanzarote that his painting means, the essence of an unusual landscape that he wanted to share with others," he said and described the exhibition as a space of emotions.

At the entrance of the exhibition is the Seat Ibiza that the artist painted, and inside, in the room, divided into two spaces, you can see a reproduction of Manrique's workshop in his house in Haría. The furniture is original, as well as other elements such as brushes, jars, easels, mannequins, unfinished paintings, etc.

You can also see videos of how Manrique worked and projections of his works and images of him, as well as photographs, personal objects of the artist, such as clothing, magazines, or diaries from different stages of his life in which he notes both his commitments and his impressions.
