The Summer Camp for Diabetic Children-Lanzarote 2006, organized by The Lanzarote Diabetes Association (ADILA), will host, in addition to the recreational activities typical of these events, dynamics on health education and health promotion in diabetic children with the intention of promoting greater autonomy and self-responsibility in children to achieve optimal control of the disease.
For this, the activities will be supervised by health professionals. In addition to the two monitors, a doctor and three nurses will be in charge of controlling the walks and excursions outside the premises, such as trips to the Beach and Aquapark.
ADILA collaborates with the Management of Health Services of the Canary Health Service of Lanzarote, the Cabildo and the Municipalities of the Island for the organization of this workshop that contemplates the realization of educational workshops on health issues and specific to diabetes, such as "Oral Health, "Insulins", Self-analysis/self-injection" Nutrition", "Physical exercise" and "Diabetic foot".
