Asolan has proceeded to renew its organic positions with the celebration of elections, which, as stipulated in the statutes, are held every two years. The only candidacy presented has been that of the current president of the association, Francisco Armas, so he has achieved re-election.
"In Asolan, as they are closed lists, a consensus candidacy is drawn up," says Francisco Armas, recently re-elected as president of the Association. "Normally, the aim is to ensure that all tourist areas and hotel and non-hotel places are represented equally."
In this new legislature, Asolan will have a new Board of Directors, as the members for the tourist areas of Playa Blanca, Costa Teguise and Puerto del Carmen have been voted, in addition to the three vice-presidents, secretary and treasurer. "There are many new faces on the proposed Board of Directors because 50% of this body has been renewed," explains Francisco Armas.
The re-elected candidate assures that Asolan will have very good expectations for the next two years with the creation of the Tourist Promotion Society, as the association wants to participate actively. In addition, Armas assures that the challenges for this new legislature will be to "train the workers of our associated companies, raise awareness among our associates about quality and environmental distinctions, propose improvements on the island as a destination and continue making it easier for our associated companies".
