In recent days, San Juan Beach has been filled with campers and caravans again. Although after the events of Holy Week, camping in this Natural Park was prohibited, the tents have reappeared in Famara, because, according to the Playa de Famara-La Marquesa Neighborhood Association, the mayor of the municipality assured that permits would be obtained to camp in this area, "although he knew that the camping situation had not been regularized."
This neighborhood association has also stated that the mayor knows that until the Master Plan for Use and Management of the Chinijo Archipelago Natural Park is definitively approved, the San Juan campsite cannot be legalized. In addition, the neighbors have also lashed out against Juan Pedro Hernández because he is commenting that it is the residents of the town who do not want camping in this Natural Park, when "the Playa de Famara Neighborhood Association does not oppose camping in San Juan, what is requested is that the campsite be regularized, ordered and legal".
This neighborhood association has also reported that the Cabildo has agreed to approve a camping area that allows the situation to be resolved provisionally, until the approval of that Master Plan, "but to do so it is necessary for the City Council to accredit ownership of the land, which to this day continues without doing so".
This neighborhood group has also commented that what it intends is for the San Juan Campsite to be regularized. To this end, they have submitted a letter to the Cabildo in which they set out the criteria that this campsite should have, such as the limitation of places and people, providing the necessary hygienic infrastructures, providing means for surveillance, control and cleaning, in addition to allowing camping at specific times.
