The Plaza de Haría hosts the I Rastro Joven. From this Wednesday until next Friday, the exchange and sale of second-hand products and handicrafts will coexist with juggling shows, circus, street theater, mime, music and graffiti exhibition. "When we program an activity like this we have an objective: to give prominence to young people who perhaps do not have the same initiative as they had in the past, so we have to be promoters and provide them with the means to express themselves," explains Jacobo Betancort, Councilor for Culture and Youth of the Haría City Council.
The councilor affirms that this is intended to be an initiative for young people to meet in a "healthy environment" and relate to each other. So far, fifteen young people have requested a place in the Plaza de Haría. "Sometimes we talk a lot about organizing activities for young people, but they are always the same, however, this is something new," says Betancort.
In addition to the buying, selling and exchange stalls, other parallel activities will be carried out. The company "Titiritando" will bring juggling with fires and music to the Plaza de Haría on January 3. That same day, starting at 8:30 p.m., a circus and street theater show will be held by the company "Azulquillas". On the last day, the members of "Caravana" will perform the act "Musics of the World".
"Just as we propose an innovative idea to young people, we also propose that gifts this Christmas be innovative," indicates Betancort. "We are in a materialistic society, and although we have more and more criteria to select what we buy, we are still bombarded with advertising," he says. Therefore, on the eve of Reyes, these young people will propose alternative gifts in Haría, following a solidary, sustainable and, above all, original path.
