At 7:00 p.m. and with the three naves of the temple crowded by the parishioners, the acts of Good Friday began. A very special celebration that consists of three parts, the first is based on the reading of the Passion and Death of the Lord, this year corresponding to that of the evangelist Saint John, the second part is dedicated to the adoration of the Crucified Lord and the third to the distribution of Holy Communion.
At 9:00 p.m. the Great Procession of the Holy Burial took place, headed by the Music Band "La Unión Musical de Lanzarote", directed by Professor Pepe Artiles. Secondly, the throne with the Holy Cross carrying the Holy Shroud went and after it the throne with the image of the Recumbent Jesus. This throne is an architectural jewel made with noble woods and carved by hand. A work that was donated to the parish of San Ginés in the year 1971 by the Arroyo funeral home. After him followed the celebrating priests and the throne with the image of Our Lady of Sorrows flanked by the Disciples of the Virgin. Together with them all the parishioners who made the processional route through the main streets and avenue of the city.
Upon returning to the parish temple, the image of the Recumbent Jesus was lowered from the throne and carried on his shoulders to place it on the table of the Main Altar. Immediately afterwards, the Fervorín to the Dolorosa and procession of the Solitude was carried out with the image of Our Lady of Sorrows around the church square.
This Holy Saturday the Solemn Easter Vigil will be celebrated at 9:00 p.m. in the Mother Church of San Ginés Obispo.
