CICAR presented the audio guide of El Hierro

The Plaza Virrey de Manila in Valverde hosted the presentation of the El Hierro audio guide on the night of Friday, September 28. The El Hierro audio guide initiative comes from the Lanzarote company Canary Islands Car, SL (CICAR).

The event was presided over by the president of the El Hierro Island Council, Alpidio Armas, and the representative of CICAR, Mamerto Cabrera, and the mayor of Valverde, Agustín Padrón, also spoke. After the presentation of the El Hierro audio guide, there was a musical closing with performances by the Sabinosa Folk Group and the Lanzarote parranda El Golpito. The timple player Benito Cabrera also performed, outside of the program. This musical and festive closing is due to a gesture by CICAR with the population of El Hierro, which has been affected by recent volcanic eruptions, and with which it intended to offer a moment of animation and joy in solidarity with El Hierro.

The event was organized by the car rental company without driver CICAR and by Orvecame, exclusive concessionaire, among other brands, of Opel for all the Canary Islands. Both companies are part of the Lanzarote Group Cabrera Medina. The El Hierro Island Council and the Valverde City Council collaborated with this event.

The event began with an explanation about the contents and operation of the El Hierro audio guide by Ildefonso Aguilar, who was in charge of the composition or selection of the musical band, and is also the author of the CD cover design: concept, design and photographs.

Next, the representative of CICAR, Mamerto Cabrera, pointed out that "the idea of the audio guides was born because we saw the need to improve the service we offer to our clients. Our intention is that they have complete and quality information when they travel the islands, and our hope is that they get to know the Canary Islands with us," he said. Regarding the reason for the musical closing, he said that "it is a modest way of giving a hug to the people of El Hierro, offering them a moment of joy to try to forget the bad times caused by the volcanoes."

Later, the mayor of Valverde valued CICAR's initiative with the island of El Hierro, through an audio guide that will allow a better understanding of the island's attractions.

The president of the El Hierro Island Council praised the initiative and thanked the gesture

towards the island, and "the firm commitment of a family business to the economic development of the island of El Hierro." He highlighted the electric car that the company presented, in line with the commitment to the ecological and sustainable development of the island of El Hierro. Finally, he closed his speech thanking the Cabrera Medina company for its commitment to nature, the environment and the peaceful and solidarity coexistence of the people of El Hierro,

What is the El Hierro audio guide

The El Hierro audio guide is an innovative service that CICAR offers

to users of its rental cars, at no cost to them. The

The first audio guide published was that of Lanzarote, a pilot experience that was followed by the audio guides of Gran Canaria and Tenerife. This initiative will be transferred to the remaining islands of the Archipelago in the coming months. In fact, work is already underway on the edition of the island of Fuerteventura, whose public presentation is scheduled for mid-November.

When renting a CICAR vehicle anywhere in El Hierro, the user will receive a CD, in mp3 (audio) format, which describes 28 places of interest in El Hierro. The client can choose between three languages: Spanish, English and German.

As you travel through the island territory, the user can choose the track they want to listen to, in accordance with the landscape or the place in front of them. When doing so, a voice, whose Spanish locution is by the writer Fernando G. Delgado, describes the most interesting aspects of the place that is being traveled on a subtle musical background. The voice in German is by Stephan Kaiser. The texts are by Mario Alberto Perdomo.

As a complementary support for the audio guide, CICAR offers the rental car user a map of the island with the signaling of the points of interest, as well as a user manual for it.

With this initiative, CICAR makes a long-standing aspiration a reality that was conceived more than two years ago. CICAR tries to contribute, in this way, to spreading the cultural and natural values of the Canary Islands among users who choose their rental cars to travel and get to know it. Likewise, with this audio guide, CICAR tries to favor a better interpretation of El Hierro by incorporating the varied leisure offer, public and private, that the island has.

On the other hand, the audio guide promotes the consumption of local products, and offers a series of useful tips so that rental car users contribute to the conservation of the island.

On the other hand, it is intended to make the audio guide available to the El Hierro taxi fleet, at no cost, so that they can use it when providing their services, as was already done on the islands of Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Tenerife.

The different audio guides are carried out in close coordination with the Island Tourist Boards.
