Christina Rosenvige presents her latest album, "Continental 62", in Lanzarote, in a concert that will be held next Friday, July 7 at the Buñuel Cinema. At 10:00 PM, the author of "Foreign Land" will perform the songs from her new work recorded between Madrid and New York, which gave the album its title, as "Continental 62" is the name of the flight that connects Newark and Barajas airports.
A wide musical experience supports this composer and singer, who began her career in the early years of the Madrid scene. With the publication of her solo works "Frozen Pool" (2001), "Foreign Land" (2002) and this latest one, she consolidates her musical maturity, as "Continental 62" is expected to be one of the best works she has done.
The album features collaborations from Lee Ranaldo and Steve Shelley (Sonic Youth), Jeremy Wilms (Chin Chin), Tim Foljahn (Two Dollar Guitar), Charlie Bautista, and Suso Sáiz, and is produced by Christina herself. It includes songs that move between North American independent rock and European auteur chanson, between English and Spanish.
Christina Rosenvige gained great popularity with the successful 80s duo Álex y Christina, and later, in the 90s, with Christina y Los Subterráneos. Her participations with Ella y Los Neumáticos, with musicians like Lars (Décima Víctima), Rodrigo (Ciudad Jardín), or Edi Clavo (Gabinete Caligari), were left behind.
Next Friday, the Buñuel Cinema of the El Almacén Island Cultural Center will host this concert, which is part of the cultural activities program of the Lanzarote Summer University 2006. Tickets for her performance cost 5 euros and can now be purchased at the CIC El Almacén.
