The Carnival in San Bartolomé begins with the little ones. Therefore, among the activities prepared for the youngest members of the household, the makeup workshop, the making of musical instruments, offered by the municipal playroom, and the foam hat workshop taught by César Corujo stood out. Inflatables were also present at the most "chinija" party of the carnivals.
The winners of the Costume Contest were: In the individual prize, Quiara Umpiérrez, three years old, with a fantasy titled "Princess of Venice". The prize for the best-dressed couple was received by Lucas and Yoday Cabrera, with the fantasy "Happy Cows". The best group costume was made up of twelve children dressed as "Little Princes of Carnival". All the winners participated in the municipal float that paraded on Tuesday, in the street parade of the Carnival of the municipality.
The Parade of Floats
One day after Arrecife, San Bartolomé also celebrates its Parade of Floats through the streets of the municipality. Twelve Carnival groups participated, this year, in the route that began in the vicinity of the IES San Bartolomé, Avenida Alcalde Antonio Cabrera Barrera, and Calle Rubicón, ending in the Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente Park where the participants could enjoy the performances of several of the participating murgas such as "Las Revoltosas", "Los Tabletuos", "Los Desahuciados", "Lady Golosinas" and "Los Simplones" to the delight of the attendees. The City Council participated with two floats, one by the municipal playroom and the other with the winners of the Chinijo Carnival contest. The performances lasted until 9:00 p.m. The great participation of masquerades and costumed people were the note of color and joy of the Carnival of the municipality of San Bartolomé.
The Playa Honda street parade
On Friday, February 8, starting at 5:00 p.m., the Carnival street parade in Playa Honda will take place with the participation of groups, associations, and the public. Those interested can gather at the Playa Honda Sociocultural Center, from where the departure will take place, going down Fragata Street, and touring Playa Honda Avenue to the height of its intersection with Princesa Ico. Likewise, from the San Bartolomé City Council, they announce that workshops will be offered by various groups, both for costumes and makeup.
The groups that will participate, Batucada Son de Ajei Murga Los Guacimetitos, Rural Association of Women Tiemar, El Patio Program, AMPA´S of the educational centers of Playa Honda, although all groups and neighbors in general are invited. The Children's Murga Chau-Chau will participate as guests.
