The educational community of southern Lanzarote inaugurated the current building of the Playa Blanca School of Early Childhood and Primary Education on April 28, 1991, which this Wednesday celebrates its 30th anniversary, being the second largest center in the Canary Islands with 770 students. The mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, wanted to take advantage of this anniversary to "congratulate the educational community of the town of Playa Blanca and especially the teachers of all eras for laying the foundations for the educational development of our young people."

The mayor of Yaiza participated together with the Councilor for Education, Silvia Santana, the school's principal, Raquel Rodríguez Machín, and the head of studies, Víctor Sangil, in the municipal tribute in memory of "so many years of work and dedication of this educational center that personifies the multiculturalism, coexistence and integration of the tourist town that welcomes it." During this time, the center has been directed by teachers Jaime Quesada, Trinidad Pérez and Raquel Rodríguez.

"The CEIP Playa Blanca is characterized as an inclusive center that responds to diversity", highlights its young director, Raquel Rodríguez, who also notes that "the center became small a few years after its opening and that is why there have been different extensions, and finally a few years ago modular classrooms were installed." Raquel Rodríguez was a student at CEIP. "I never imagined getting to be, not even the director, but a teacher at the school. It is a challenge and an honor to be able to work for the sons and daughters of my town," she confesses.

Faced with this reality, the Yaiza City Council proposed to the Government of the Canary Islands the construction of the Playa Blanca Compulsory Education Center (CEO), a building with works already completed that will alleviate the population of the CEIP from the 2021-2022 academic year. The Playa Blanca school began operating in the house built in 1957, where the Javier Caídas Library currently operates.
