CEIP Ajei of San Bartolomé has once again filled the Town Hall Square with theater and music, on the occasion of the celebration of the Day of Peace and Non-Violence. The educational team of the center has developed this Monday a wide program of activities that began at half past nine in the morning. The students starred in the day with theatrical performances, poetry, music and the reading of a manifesto. The closing of the educational event took place with the release of doves.
The event was attended, in addition to family members and students, by the general director of Educational Planning, Innovation and Promotion of the Ministry of Education and Universities of the Canary Islands Executive, Rafael Bailón, and the mayor of San Bartolomé, Dolores Corujo, together with other councilors of the Corporation, as reported by the City Council.
On the other hand, more than a thousand people, including schoolchildren and family members, ran along Playa Honda Avenue last Friday to raise funds for solidarity purposes, coinciding with the events held by CEP Playa Honda on the occasion of the International Day of Peace.
The schoolchildren of three, four and five years old did the race in the facilities of the educational center itself, while the rest ran along the Avenue. All were accompanied by their families. The first year ESO students from IES de Playa Honda also participated in the activity.
The money raised will go to the animal and plant protection agency SARA in 25% and the rest to an NGO on the island. The Councilor for Education, Alma González, took the opportunity to congratulate the teaching staff for this initiative.
