The island union of CCOO Lanzarote has wanted to publicly denounce the situation that the workers of Hernández Bello Rsu Tinajo are suffering, a company in charge of the collection service in the aforementioned municipality, which it accuses of continuing to "do its thing" and "trample" the rights of its employees.
It should be remembered that the contract expired more than a year ago, but the Tinajo City Council has been signing extensions and the new tender has not yet been called - in October it was put out to tender, but it was suspended shortly after due to "errors" in the specifications - while the position has been denouncing deficiencies in the service since 2019.
Now, CCOO states that on December 29, the legal representation of the workers of Hernández Bello informed the company's management of the calendar of workers' meetings for the month of January 2021. In said calendar, it states that on January 8 there was a meeting called within the working day, "as stipulated in the applicable collective agreement".
However, the union assures that, to its "surprise", that day the workers could not hold the meeting, "since the company prevented at all costs" that "they move to the vicinity of the company." A fact that CCOO considers "attacks against the Organic Law of Trade Union Freedom."
In addition, it considers that "the company management is showing its bad losing", and recalls that "numerous complaints" filed with the labor authority and in the courts have "given them the reason" and "come to say that this company is in breach of economic, social and preventive rights".
Faced with this situation, CCOO affirms that it wanted to "inform the citizens of the municipality of Tinajo that the workers carry out their work functions day after day in painful situations of labor conflict" and that "the same workers have been performing their work functions for more than 15 years in the municipality, without having any problems previously until the entry of this company management", of which they affirm that "its sole objective has been to trample on the rights of the workers".
