The active tropical wave is located this Thursday, September 22, on the coasts of Senegal, reports the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet). The National Hurricane Center foresees an intensification of it and with a probability of 60%, it will evolve into a tropical depression during the next five days in its displacement towards the north-northwest, between the islands of Cape Verde and the African coast.
With the information available so far, Aemet specifies, "it is likely that between Saturday 24 and Monday 26, it will approach the Canary Islands, although it is very unlikely that it will directly impact the Archipelago."
During Saturday the intensity of rainfall will be moderate, but for Sunday and Monday a strong or very strong intensity is expected, mainly in the western islands. In principle, the peak day of this episode will be Sunday, when it is likely that around 60-100 liters per square meter will accumulate, except in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura where the expected amount of rain is lower.
