Caleta de Caballo Prepares for the La Lapa Procession

Caleta de Caballo begins this Monday, September 3, in honor of La Lapa. In this coastal enclave there is no hermitage, nor patron saint, but the neighbors decided to pay tribute to this seafood. Thus, a few years ago they made a sculpture of La Lapa and, on the last day of the festivities, the 9th, they will take it out in a maritime and land procession.

The events begin on Monday at 5:00 p.m. with a photographic exhibition of the La Lapa festival, the decoration of the town and, at 7:00 p.m., the beginning of the round and ball championships. On Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. there will be youth activities and at 7:00 p.m., an envite championship.

On Wednesday the events will begin at 6:00 p.m. with the cleaning of the beach, to continue with a children's treasure hunt and with the envite championship. On Thursday there will be Canarian wrestling and a film screening.

On Friday there will be a gymkhana for young and old at 5:00 p.m., a wig race at 7:00 p.m., a parade with bazucada at 11:00 p.m. and a verbena enlivened by Los Conejeros at 12:00 a.m. On Saturday there will be aquatic inflatables, a soccer tournament, a popular barbecue and a dessert exhibition. At 10:00 p.m. the parranda night will begin with the performance of Los Pulguitas and Pal Porrón.

On Sunday there will be a water verbena at 2:00 p.m., an awards ceremony at 5:00 p.m. and the procession of La Lapa at 6:00 p.m.
