Bonfire, music and popular grills to celebrate San Juan's night in Lanzarote

The city councils of Arrecife, San Bartolomé, Tías and Playa Blanca have programmed different activities to welcome the summer

Bonfires, music and popular barbecues to celebrate the night of San Juan in Lanzarote

Lanzarote is preparing to experience a San Juan night in which there will be bonfires, music and barbecues in the events organized by the different municipalities of the island. 

Arrecife will welcome the summer with a great party aimed at the whole family, which will extend from 12 noon on Saturday until midnight and where there will be activities and events from the Cabildo Insular to the Islas Canarias park.

There will be a Bola Championship with prior registration (629 036 077) and there will be an exhibition of old photographs with San Juan night as the theme, children's mats and a playroom for the little ones, water sports along the avenue, tapas at affordable prices and a large bonfire with pineapple roasting on El Reducto Beach. Music will also be present with the groups Los Guateques, Treintytantos, DJ Maxi and Bourbon.

Due to the celebration of the event 'Arrecife opens the Summer, the maritime avenue will be completely closed to all vehicles, including public transport, from 7:00 a.m. this Friday until 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 24. The taxi rank of the Parque Islas Canarias will be moved to the section between Almirante Boado Endeiza and Valls de la Torre streets.

 

Haría 


Haría will put the finishing touch to its patron saint festivities this weekend of San Juan, which have had "great participation and involvement of the residents" of the municipality. 

On Saturday, June 23, the world of motoring will be the protagonist in the north of the Island with the 'XL Subida a Haría', to continue, from 11 p.m., with the traditional Burning of Facundo and Fire Dance in the Plaza de Haría. The night will culminate with fireworks and a festival with the orchestras Carácter Latino from Gran Canaria and Furia Joven from Gran Canaria.

On Sunday, June 24, the solemn mass and procession will take place in honor of San Juan Bautista, followed by the musical performance of the Parranda Yemaya in the Plaza. And as a finishing touch to the program organized by the City Council, at 9:00 p.m. the institutional act of awarding the 'XXV Haría Awards' to Tito Dorta Caraballo and the Mesa Armas Family, from the El Amanecer Restaurant, will begin, with the performance of the Bohemia group, in the Auditorium of Jameos del Agua.
 

 

San Bartolomé 


In San Bartolomé, the events for San Juan night will be held on Avenida de Playa Honda, between Mesana and Botavara streets from 6:00 p.m., which is when the VI Intercultural Game Fair will begin, which will have Asia as its theme, with family dynamization until 9:00 p.m. with workshops and activities organized by the Citizen Participation area and the Community Intervention Project of the municipality of San Bartolomé-Tiemar. There will be a chess workshop, percussion, face painting, games in the sand, creation of a mural and an Asian cooking workshop to share with the family. 

At 7:30 p.m. there will be a musical performance by Mozica Jam Trío, while at 8:30 p.m. there will be a Zumba Master Class with Bollywood rhythm by MT-Dance. At 9:45 p.m. MBand will perform and at 11 p.m. the San Juan bonfire will be lit, with a performance by Emisora Clandentina at 11:15 p.m., concluding the evening with music by dj Ángel Pérez.

 

Tías 


From the Tías City Council, more than 12 continuous hours of beach activities have been programmed for this coming Saturday, June 23 for the enjoyment of the whole family. The eve of San Juan will conclude in La Tiñosa with a large popular sardine barbecue, the great San Juan bonfire and the night of revelry with the performances of El Golpito and Pal´porrón on the esplanade next to Playa Chica, on the Paseo de la Pila de la Barrilla.

From 12 noon, an ancestral tradition will be revived, where families enjoyed this day sharing a meal on the beach. The Tías City Council has installed some tents for this occasion, where families can enjoy a family lunch promoted by the members of the Coral Marina de Puerto del Carmen, with the support of the City Council. An open activity that has a limited capacity to the capacity of the tents.

With the collaboration of the Lanzarote Underwater Activities Club, the Department of Tourism has programmed a cleaning campaign of the seabed between 11 a.m. and 12 noon, in the area of ​​La Pila de la Barrilla and Playa Chica, affected a few months ago by the storm. At 1:30 p.m. there will be a jolateros regatta in El Poril, with the collaboration of the Burgaos Cultural and Recreational Association.

For those people who wish to start in the underwater world, the Tías City Council has programmed, from 1:30 p.m., and also with the collaboration of the members of the Lanzarote Underwater Activities Club (CAS Lanzarote), some underwater baptisms in Playa Chica. People with reduced mobility or with disabilities can also take advantage of this activity, as "special logistics have been set up so that they can fulfill their dreams and have a diving or scuba diving experience", according to sources from the Consistory. 

The afternoon of the eve of San Juan, the La Tiñosa area will be full of many nautical leisure proposals. From 5:00 p.m. there will be a banana boat ride for people over 10 years of age and at 6:00 p.m. one in a donut. In addition, between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. alternative leisure activities will be offered with proposals for stand up yoga and stand un paddle. The night of the eve of San Juan will conclude with the traditional and great sardine barbecue, the burning of the bonfire, and the night of revelry. 

 

Playa Blanca


The tourist town of Playa Blanca will welcome the summer with a party on the town beach enlivened from 8:30 p.m. by the Gran Canaria pop-rock group 'Última Llave' and the Playa Blanca rock band 'Boulevard'.

The program organized by the Yaiza City Council, through the Departments of Culture and Commerce, also provides for the release of more than 300 lanterns that will illuminate the southern festive night.
