Black and white memories of the San Ginés festivities in Arrecife

An exhibition takes the public back to the Sangineles of yesteryear

Black and white memories of the San Ginés festivities in Arrecife

The Sociedad Democracia of Arrecife hosts on Monday, at 9:00 p.m., the inauguration of a photographic exhibition with historical images of the San Ginés festivities. The exhibition has counted with the participation of the Arrecife City Council and the memoriadelanzarote.com initiative of the Data Center of the Cabildo of Lanzarote.

The almost 50 photographs that will be exhibited in the Sociedad Democracia come from the specific campaigns on these festivities that Memoria Digital de Lanzarote has carried out in recent years. These images are almost all from the decades of the 40s, 50s and 60s, and illustrate significant aspects of this celebration such as the fair, dances, beauty contests?, in addition to showing scenarios of Arrecife that have changed substantially or well-known historical figures of the city.

On the portal wwww.memoriadelanzarote.com you can consult a special of 'los Sangineles' with abundant documentation in images, texts and data: www.memoriadelanzarote.com/buscar/san gines

In addition to the exhibition, on Monday there will be a screening of San Ginés films recorded by amateur filmmakers in the 70s and 80s. On this occasion, you will be able to see films such as a pilgrimage from the 70s, the Miss Spain gala of San Ginés 1973 and a Song Festival of 1985, provided by Julián Martín, the heirs of Felipe Álvarez and Rafael Medina, among others.
