Last Friday, July 27th, at 9:30 PM, the 5th edition of the Mar en Calma festival kicked off on the avenue of Playa Honda, featuring the timple player Benito Cabrera, who was accompanied by two great musicians, percussionist Sergio García and bassist Guillermo Chávez.

Benito Cabrera prepared a series of purely Canarian-tinged themes for this concert, giving it a much more acoustic feel, where themes such as the famous 'baile del vivo' or the traditional 'arrorró' sounded totally different but without losing an iota of tradition. Cabrera also performed other themes such as folías, isas, etc., without leaving out the famous composition "Nube de Hielo" (Ice Cloud), to which the audience broke into applause as soon as they heard the first verse.

During the more than ninety minutes that the concert lasted, Benito made a masterful introduction to each of the pieces performed so that the public could better understand the message that he and his musicians wanted to convey in the concert. The night was accompanied by very good weather. When Cabrera finished the concert, they asked for more songs, a request that he accepted, and even when he got off the stage he signed some autographs and took pictures with his fans.
