The Arrecife City Council is rehabilitating and improving the facilities of the skatepark located in the Parque Temático. The objective of the works is that this space, designed especially for young people, "is designed correctly, meets the expectations of the people who use it and guarantees their safety", according to Councilor Jacobo Lemes.
Since this week, the facilities are being restored, changing, among other aspects, the wooden sheets of the central module, which were deteriorated, and painting and improving all the ramps. The works also include painting the walls that limit the skate track, as well as covering the sides of the ramps that are broken with galvanized sheet metal to prevent access from underneath.
The works also include the construction of a V-shaped and approved mini ramp, which includes a structure of iron and phenolic wood "skatelite", the only material on the market for the construction of outdoor skate ramps. Its sides will also be covered with galvanized sheet metal.
Skate Championship
On the other hand, the head of Youth, who went this Wednesday to supervise the development of the repair work accompanied by the Councilor for Tourism, Rafael Juan González, announced that a new edition of the Arrecife City Skate Championship will be held next Saturday, October 18.
"The Department of Youth works continuously offering and promoting leisure alternatives to the free time of young people. A healthy leisure that we try to make fun and that is linked to some sports activity," said the mayor.
