It already has fourteen editions and as time goes by, the musical quality is getting higher and higher. The XIV Yaiza Song Performers Festival once again brought together the most famous voices of the Island and Gran Canaria, in the middle of the Los Remedios festivities, with a total of 14 participants and three prizes, where the singer Arancha Del Carmen was proclaimed the winner, achieving the long-awaited "statuette of triumph" and a cash prize of 2,000 euros, which was presented to her by the mayor of the municipality, Gladys Acuña.
The winner, who managed to win thanks to the song "The reason", performed in English, was accompanied in her triumph by the singer Echedey De León, who won the second prize of 1,700 euros in cash, which was presented by the Councilor for Culture Francisco Román De la Cruz. In third place was the singer Araceli Bravo, who won the prize of 1,400 euros in cash, presented by the Councilor for Urban Planning Leonardo Rodríguez.
The festival could be followed from the Plaza de Los Remedios in Yaiza, the original location of the festival, which was held again in the town after several years in Playa Blanca.
Several giant screens installed on the stage made it possible for the public to follow the deliberation and voting of the jury, which on this occasion had a more difficult time than in other editions, since there was a technical tie and the jury had to consult the rules of the contest to re-evaluate and thus proclaim Arancha Del Carmen as the winner, who was tied with the second winner at the end of the gala.
The contest was set by a live orchestra directed by Ricardo Viñas together with four choir accompanists, who enlivened the breaks; the comedian Maestro Florido, who performed during the jury's deliberation; the "Gemelos de Canarias" Iván e Ismael Figueras and the performance of the ballet group "Dance Pop", which has been the official ballet of the event since 2000.
The festival was presented by the presenter and announcer of Radio Lanzarote Francisco José Navarro, accompanied by Yara De León, and was attended by a large audience that packed the Plaza de Los Remedios in the southern town.
