Teguise dresses up for another year of celebration. The festivities in honor of the Virgen del Carmen begin today with the parade of giants and big-heads. As in previous editions, these fantasy characters will parade through the narrow streets of the town.

Alongside them, the residents of Teguise who want to enjoy this commemoration in which children are the protagonists today. The procession will arrive near the Palacio de Spínola where the official act with which the festival begins will take place. This is the opening speech that will be given this year by the lawyer Antonio Cubillo.

Program

The most outstanding event of this year's festival program is the performance of George Duke at the Canarias Jazz & Heineken Festival. The concert will be held tomorrow starting at nine o'clock at night in the municipal tent where the veteran keyboardist and producer will offer the public the themes of his latest work 'Duke'.

Along with the singer will be guitarist Jeff Lee, drummer Gordon Campbell, bassist Mike Manson, keyboardist Kavin Randolph and Shannon Pearson as vocals. Attendees will be able to enjoy jazz, soul, Latin sounds, Brazilian music, gospel, pop, and even hip-hop. These are some of the styles through which the American keyboardist and composer walks with mastery and ease, a musician who has made a name for himself on stages around the world, both solo and as a member of very important bands or groups of 20th century music. Thus, the recital is free and free of charge.

The events will continue on Sunday. In the morning the bowling championship will take place in the Plaza Camilo José Cela. In the afternoon, starting at seven, the tent will host the election of the Princess Teguise Infantil.
