Aena presented this Tuesday three of the five electric vehicles that will be used at the Lanzarote airport, to provide service in airport activities. This initiative is included within the actions of the Lanzarote Airport project - "Green Airport".
Also, during the same event, the exhibition "A walk through time... from stardust to us" was inaugurated. An exhibition that hosts the Guacimeta airport on the evolution of planet Earth over 4.6 billion years.
Thanks to some posters provided by the Foundation for Global Community (USA) to the Biosphere Reserve of Lanzarote, organizer of the exhibition together with Aena, the citizens of the island and the tourists who visit us, will be able to enjoy the spectacle of seeing and knowing the evolution of the Earth in a very particular place, since the exhibition is displayed in the 1.6-kilometer section of the airport grounds, in the section of Guacimeta beach that connects the towns of Playa Honda and Puerto del Carmen.
Along a mile, and at a rate of 3 million years of evolution per meter of exhibition surface, the area directed by Councilor Juan Antonio de la Hoz makes use of the recently opened double fence of the airport to exhibit a historical and biological journey about a living planet in constant transformation. The exhibition shows an active planet, with constant volcanic activity, such as the one Lanzarote had in the 18th century, or as the one that emerges today on the island of El Hierro.
The exhibition also focuses on the biodiversity of the planet, observing the evolution of living beings under the sea or on the earth's surface. This biodiversity shows from the biological richness of today to that of the past, such as the distant relatives of the worm recently found in the Tunnel of the Atlantis, in the Jameos del Agua, in a scientific expedition financed by the Cabildo of Lanzarote through the Biosphere Reserve.
Regarding the exhibition, the Councilor of the Office of the Biosphere Reserve of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Juan Antonio de la Hoz, stated that it is "an exhibition that the citizens of the island should not miss, not only because of the originality of its location, in the middle of the coastal promenade that connects Playa Honda and Puerto del Carmen, but also because of its high scientific and educational value to learn about the evolution of our planet".
Until December 4th
"A walk through time... from stardust to us" ("A Walk Through Time ...from Stardust tu Us") is composed of 89 panels exhibited in 1.6 km of length, in the fences of the airport grounds of Guacimeta Airport, in the stretch of coastline that connects the towns of Playa Honda and Puerto del Carmen. The 89 panels are double and will be offered in Spanish and English. Until December 4th they will be exhibited in Spanish and from December 4th until the end of January they will be exhibited in English.
The exhibition has been organized by the Biosphere Reserve of Lanzarote and Aena Airport of Lanzarote, thanks to a collaboration agreement signed between both corporations. The town halls of San Bartolomé and Tías have collaborated.
Likewise, the exhibition is part of the collaboration agreement signed between the Cabildo of Lanzarote and the Ministry of Environment and Rural and Marine Affairs of the Government of Spain for the financing and implementation of environmental actions in the Biosphere Reserve of Lanzarote.
