A grand fireworks display brought the Puerto del Carmen festivities to a close

The patron saint festivities of Puerto del Carmen came to an end on Sunday with a grand fireworks display, lasting about 15 minutes, which was followed by a multitude of residents from La Tiñosa and Lanzarote, as well as tourists, who crowded the promenade along Poril and Playa Chica.

At 11 p.m., the promenade lighting was turned off, serving as a prelude to a grand pyrotechnic show organized by the Tías City Council as the finale to the festivities in honor of the Virgen del Carmen, the patron saint of La Tiñosa and Puerto del Carmen. The company in charge of this spectacle was the Canarian firm Pirotecnia San Miguel, which surprised "with its quality, coordination, and beautiful colors over the sky of La Tiñosa," according to the City Council.

From the afternoon-evening, El Varadero square was filled with the public, who enjoyed the performance of Jóvenes Cantadores, the last of the concerts organized by the Department of Festivities of the City Council.

In 2008, a group of young people, mostly students from the University of La Laguna, decided to come together to give a twist to the traditional, folkloric, and popular music of the islands. After 10 years of career, four albums on the market, more than 300 live concerts, and a "unique and special" staging, Jóvenes Cantadores brought to La Tiñosa a "very rhythmic concert with its own style and a singular brand, once again reaping great success."

This group of thirty young Canarians celebrated their tenth anniversary in Puerto del Carmen "with a great show that left no one indifferent and won the applause of the audience." After this concert, attendees moved to the area of the Maritime Promenade that connects the dock of La Tiñosa with Playa Chica to follow the pyrotechnic show more closely.
