In the early hours of this Sunday, 238 immigrants arrived in Lanzarote on board five boats during the early hours, as reported by the Emergency Consortium.
Maritime Rescue has rescued this Sunday morning 192 people who were sailing on board four boats in the direction of the Canary Islands, whose occupants have been transferred to Puerto Naos, Lanzarote, an island to which another small boat has arrived on its own with 46 immigrants.
As reported to EFE by sources from Maritime Rescue and the Emergency Consortium of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, after midnight, at 00:33 the first pneumatic boat was intercepted via a satellite phone, with 45 occupants, all males whose origin has not been specified, who were rescued by the Salvamar Al Nair in international waters, 88 kilometers east of Arrecife.
The Salvamar Al Nair with the immigrants on board went to the Arrecife dock, where they were disembarked, and, subsequently, rescued another 54 sub-Saharans, 48 men, three women and three children, who were also disembarked at the Arrecife dock, as indicated by sources from Maritime Rescue.
The third small boat, also pneumatic, was intercepted at 02:23 hours and on it were traveling 50 men, 45 of Maghrebi origin and five sub-Saharans, who were assisted by the Guardamar Concepción Arenal, in international waters, 37 kilometers east of Arrecife.
Once the rescue was completed, the Guardamar Concepción Arenal went to the aid of a fourth boat located 60 kilometers from Lanzarote with 52 sub-Saharan immigrants, 49 men and three women, which was also detected by the positioning of a satellite phone.
After this fourth operation, the Salvamento boat went to Puerto Naos, where it disembarked the immigrants.
The two pneumatics in which they were traveling were left adrift, the Salvamento sources indicated.
In addition, this morning, at 04:21 hours, another 46 Maghrebi people have arrived in Lanzarote in a fifth boat that arrived on its own to the northeast of the island and all of them in apparent good health.
This small boat was detected by the Fiscal and Border Patrol of the Civil Guard, according to sources from the Emergency Consortium.
