The camera from the YouTube channel @LanzaroteWebcam captured the moment when the Vueling flight originating from Barcelona and destined for Lanzarote attempted to land at the airport around 9:20 PM this Thursday, January 1st, but without success. The plane had to be diverted to Fuerteventura.
The plane was forced to divert to Fuerteventura airport due to adverse weather conditions on the island of Lanzarote. After waiting at Fuerteventura airport, the pilots attempted to land in Lanzarote twice more, but it was not possible due to the strong wind caused by Storm Francis, which is affecting the Canary Islands.
Passengers spent the night at the Majorero airport and are waiting to see if they can land in Lanzarote this Friday on a flight scheduled for this morning. However, some passengers decided to take the boat and are already on the island.
This situation has caused distress among passengers. One of them told La Voz that the company left them "without food and without a hotel... it's a disgrace and a disaster".
"We were scared because we saw other planes managing to land and we weren't, and the pilot's face was contorted... besides, we were also scared to see that we touched the runway and took off again," he recounted.
