Bodega Tierra Viva has started bottling its first references after the harvest, marked by a significant reduction in the amount of grapes harvested throughout the island of Lanzarote. With 1.3 million kilos of grapes, it should be noted that this harvest is a small production compared to the 3.3 million in 2023. However, the winery and industry experts highlight the good quality of the fruit harvested.

In this first phase of bottling, Bodega Tierra Viva plans to produce about 9,500 bottles, 4,000 of Dry Malvasia, 3,000 of Rosé and 2,500 of Semi-sweet White approximately. Although Malvasía Volcánica is the predominant variety, other types such as Listán Negro, Listán Blanco and Moscatel will also be used, which will contribute to the diversity and richness of the varieties that are planned to be produced. The winery expects the bottling process to end in January 2025, with the production of its red wines.

The climatic conditions in 2024, marked by an irregular budding and lack of rain during the spring, affected both the amount of grapes and their ripening, which explains the decrease in the harvest. Despite this, the island's winegrowers have worked closely with the wineries to ensure that each harvested bunch is used to the fullest.

This year, the price of the grapes has increased between 15 and 20 cents per kilo, settling between €3.40 and €3.60, reflecting both the quality of the harvest and the difficulties faced in its production.

Jorge Rodríguez, president of the Regulatory Council of the DOP Vinos de Lanzarote, stated that "although production has been more limited this year, the harvested grapes are of splendid quality. This is due to a constant effort by the winegrowers, despite the unfavorable climatic conditions. We are convinced that the result can guarantee that the 2024 vintage maintains the high level that we have been achieving for several years. Lanzarote is demonstrating once again that, even in difficult years, it is possible to produce wines with great qualities that are worthy of savoring and enjoying."
