The Platform of the Municipality of Haría asks that the transit of buggies be "regulated." The proliferation of vehicles on local roads with the sole intention of tourist use is generating a "detriment to the municipality," since they "circulate without the slightest consideration for the environmental damage they generate, especially during nesting season, as well as causing physical alteration of certain terrains, erosion, creation or modification of trails," etc.
"It must be remembered that this municipality is institutionally declared free of pollution in any of its variants. It is obvious that the transit of these vehicles that circulate in convoy causes, among other things, an unnecessary dust cloud that affects not only the environment but also the vegetation adjacent to the local roads," adds the platform. "It must be noted that the regulation would only be subject to unprotected spaces, as transit is prohibited in these," it clarifies.
The platform has presented a motion to the plenary session of the Haría Town Council to request that "the transit of this type of tourist vehicle on local roads be regulated" and, furthermore, that "appropriate measures be taken to make this resolution effective."
