The National Police, through the Unit for Attention to the Family and Woman (UFAM) of Arrecife, has provided a training day aimed at directors and workers of child protection centers dependent on the Cabildo of Lanzarote, within the framework of collaboration and coordination it maintains with the different institutions responsible for child protection.
During the day, procedures for the prevention, detection, and notification of possible crimes against sexual freedom and integrity that may affect minors residing in these care facilities were addressed.
The initiative aims to equip professionals with tools that allow for the early identification of risk situations and the activation of corresponding protection mechanisms.
UFAM agents emphasized the importance of prevention and coordination between the different institutions involved in child protection, also recalling the obligation to report any indication of sexual crimes against children and adolescents to the Security Forces and Corps, in accordance with Organic Law 8/2021 on Comprehensive Protection of Children and Adolescents against Violence.
Likewise, during the meeting, the action protocol developed by the child protection centers for the prevention, notification, and referral of possible cases of sexual aggression and exploitation against children in residential centers was highlighted.
The National Police maintains its commitment to the protection of minors and continues to work in coordination with the different institutions of Lanzarote to guarantee their safety and well-being, always ensuring the best interests of the child.
