The presentation of the Mercedes Medina Díaz Association Scholarships took place this Thursday at the Agustín de la Hoz House of Culture in Arrecife. The scholarships are aimed at students from Lanzarote who have a good academic record and who justify lacking economic resources and who are going to carry out university studies in public universities throughout the state to obtain a University Degree.
The bases are published on the Association website. The requirements to apply will be to be born in Lanzarote or reside a minimum, fill in the application form and attach residence, income 2024 and other documentation indicated at the end of the application form.
The financial endowment will be 3,600 euros divided into 400 euros for nine months, starting in September. The presentation will be made by email asociaciónmercedesmedinadiaz@gmail.com between July 15 and August 15. The jury will be composed of members of the MMD Association and two external members proposed by the Association.
The decision will be made public on Friday, August 22 on the Association's website and in the island's media.
This year five students have graduated with scholarships from this Association: Gabriela Benavides 6th year of Medicine U. de Valladolid; Selena Pérez Curbelo 6th year of medicine ULL; Matteo Osaoome Osasere Administration and Management, U. Extremadura; Aisha Maneh Lira, Administration and Management. Extremadura and Sofia Betancort Suárez, Translation and Interpreter U. Granada.
Some students have been able to be at the event and others have addressed it by video and even other historical scholarship recipients who have already joined the labor market have been present.
Representatives of the companies that support the scholarships have also been present and with their generosity make it possible for many students from Lanzarote to access and graduate in University studies: TABA Control, LÍNEAS Romero Foundation, GRACIPLUS, CICAR, SPAR and Bodegas Vega De Yuco.
Finally, the event, coordinated by the president Juan Cruz, was attended by all the members of the MMD Association, the First Deputy Mayor Echedey Eugenio and Abigail González Guillén, Councilor for Education of the Arrecife City Council.
