The Cabildo of Lanzarote commemorated last Wednesday, May 10, the International Nursing Day with the celebration of scientific conferences on the Island. These took place from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Assembly Hall of the Island Institution.
Within the framework of the Conference, 772 workshops were held, of which 754 were led by the nurses themselves, comments the Cabildo.
As every year, May 12 commemorates International Nursing Day and, on this occasion, the Cabildo's initiative was dedicated "to the pilot project of School Health that the Official College of Nursing is carrying out in almost twenty educational centers on the Island," he points out.
María Dolores Corujo valued "the work of the group of nurses of the Island" and pointed out that "the best way to commemorate this date is by publicizing the unique work that the Official College of Nursing is carrying out through the ‘School Health’ project."
“This pioneering service in Lanzarote has even been recognized at the national level by the Spanish Scientific Association of Nursing, so it is a source of pride for everyone and a good way to thank them for their efforts and publicize the initiatives launched in the beneficiary centers,” Corujo highlighted.
The "School Health" project covers a total of 17 educational centers in Tías, Tinajo and San Bartolomé, 12 of these schools of Infant and Primary Education and five Secondary Education Institutes.
The professionals promoting the initiative have carried out hundreds of actions focused on hygiene, healthy eating, affective-sexual education, prevention against drug use or emotional well-being, among others, he concludes.
