Rueda de prensa de la ministra de Sanidad y el de Interior

The Minister of the Interior has announced that it has been agreed to prohibit any navigation within one nautical mile of the ship Hondius, once it enters the maritime area of the Canary Islands. This was announced by Grande Marlaska at the press conference he held this Saturday with the Minister of Health, Mónica García.

"No risk will be taken. All the areas they will travel through will be isolated, there will be no contact with civilian personnel," Marlaska assured.

Likewise, the Air Force plane that will transport the 14 Spaniards traveling aboard the Hondius is ready for its trip to Madrid, where they will be admitted to the Gómez Ulla hospital.

As far as the member countries of the European Union with nationals among the ship's passengers and crew are concerned, the minister has explained that repatriation flights to France, Germany, Belgium, Ireland, and the Netherlands, and to those countries that do not have air transport available, are already scheduled.

The Spanish passengers of the Hondius will be the first to disembark

The fourteen Spanish occupants of the ship MV Hondius - 13 passengers and one crew member - will be the first to disembark off the coast of Tenerife, once the ship arrives early tomorrow morning near the Port of Granadilla de Abona.

This has been confirmed by the Ministers of Health and Interior, Mónica García and Fernando Grande-Marlaska, who on Saturday morning informed in a press conference about the latest updates on the ship's situation.

The ministers have recalled that epidemiologists will carry out an "exhaustive evaluation" to check that all evacuated passengers "remain asymptomatic", before proceeding to disembarkation.

The 144 passengers will leave in a staggered and orderly manner and both they and the operational staff will be provided with FFP2 masks.

In addition, the head of Health has insisted that the ship will remain at anchor in the Port, assisted by a tugboat.
