Six 6th grade students from CEIP Playa Honda, accompanied by two teachers, are about to live a unique experience: their first participation in an Erasmus+ project. This Saturday, the group will embark on an exciting trip to Dunkirk, a city in the north of France, where they will be hosted by local student families for a week of cultural exchange and joint learning.

This project, a pioneering initiative for the school in student mode, aims to learn about well-being and health, develop ICT skills and promote European values, also promoting actions for sustainability.

In collaboration with French, German and Lithuanian students and teachers who will meet during the week with the Canarian school, the students will work on practical activities designed to reflect on the care of the environment, the improvement of our health and well-being, the responsible use of new technologies and the importance of cooperation and inclusion in Europe.

A transformative opportunity for students

For a group of students, this will be the first time they have traveled outside of Spain, which adds a special component of emotion and learning to the experience. Living with host families will not only allow them to improve their knowledge of the French language, but also to learn about the culture, customs and daily life of a European family.

The accompanying teacher Lyda, who is part of the school's Erasmus+ Promotion Team and is a tutor of one of the 6th grade groups, highlights that "this type of Erasmus+ experiences are not only an opportunity for our students to learn academic aspects, but it is a very enriching life experience for them at this age."

Commitment to Europe and the future

The Erasmus+ program is an initiative co-financed by the European Union that promotes cooperation between educational institutions from different countries and academic levels. The school's continuity in this program reflects its commitment to offering students enriching life experiences that complement the academic experience for a comprehensive development of the person.

Thus, the Head of Studies and Erasmus+ Coordinator of the center, Julián, emphasizes the importance of these programs for students to "develop European values, and acquire intercultural and social experiences and skills that allow them to open their minds to their academic and professional future."

The expedition will return to Lanzarote next Saturday, November 23rd after an intense week full of activities, learning and unique experiences. This mobility is only the beginning of a series of mobilities within the framework of Erasmus+ that the school will develop this year with other experiences with students to Germany and Lithuania, and next year to other destinations.
