A woman had to be evacuated this Wednesday to the Molina Orosa hospital after being affected by a fire in a house located in the Las Cabreras area, in the municipality of Teguise.
The Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium reported that the notice was received at around 1:00 p.m. through the CECOES, mobilizing firefighters, Local Police, Civil Guard and an ambulance from the Canary Emergency Service (SUC).
Danger due to affected gas cylinders
The flames were on the terrace of the first floor, where there were three butane gas bottles. Two of them had leaks and were badly damaged by the fire. The firefighters proceeded to extinguish the fire, cool the cylinders and move them to an open area for safe emptying while the gas was dissipated with water.
In addition, the emergency teams closed the water inlet on the roof, as damaged pipes were causing a significant leak.
Finally, the owner was informed that it was not advisable to stay in the house.
